Youth on the Columbia
2019 Spring Session
It's that time of year again. WRPC will collaborate with the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center to enable local area third through fifth graders to learn about European exploration and the fur trade on the Columbia Plateau and its impact on indigenous populations. For more on the Youth on the Columbia program, click here.
The Row & Paddle Club provides the students with a hands-on experience of paddling the big (25') Voyageur replica canoes on the Columbia and Wenatchee Rivers. For many, it's their first time in a boat, and for nearly all, a memorable experience.
We need experienced Club volunteers to staff bow and stern positions in the big boats, as well as to tow our large, two-boat trailer from its home in the Annex to our launch site in Confluence State Park.
Tom Cushing can tell you what the experience is like. To view the schedule, click here. Contact Penny Tobiska to volunteer. The kids will love you for it.
